Hi I'm Bev

I grew up in Utah. I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) off and on for 34 years. I love to serve others, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Being single most of my life was difficult, but I knew that Heavenly Father had a plan for me. I trusted His plan and knew that I would be fine as long as I had something worthwhile to do while waiting. I was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, and enjoyed my experience sharing the restored gospel of Jesus Christ with my Heavenly Father's children. Later, I became an ESL teacher and loved and served my amazing students from all over the world. This career was very rewarding and taught me many life lessons. I loved watching my students progress. Now I enjoy seeing how successful they are years later. I love people and especially enjoy serving them in any way I can. Not having children, I learned to love and care for animals especially friendly ones like dogs, cats and birds. Among others, I cared for a paraplegic golden retriever mix for 11 years, and loved him to pieces. From him I learned to "Never Give Up!" I love and respect all of God's creations and am very grateful for this amazingly beautiful world we live in. After being single for 58 years, I met my eternal companion and we were sealed for all eternity in the Holy Temple. Heavenly Father truly is aware of us and loves us beyond measure. He is in the details of our lives if we let Him be. I am so grateful to Him for the many blessings and opportunities He has given me. I hope and pray that I can always be true and faithful to the things that I know are true and endure to the end.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ means everything to me. I love it with all my heart! Here are some of the reasons why I believe and how what I believe has blessed my life: Because I know that I am literally a daughter of God, I can face the challenges of life knowing that He loves me and wants what's best for me. I know that He has a plan for me, and that if I submit my will to His I will be happy and have great peace in my life. If I am sad or upset I know I can pray to Him and feel better and find the strength to carry on. Because I know that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior and Redeemer, I know that I can have great hope as I strive to overcome my weaknesses and progress. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I know that I can repent and be forgiven for the mistakes that I make in life. And because of that gift of repentance, I know that if I do my best, I can ultimately be worthy to return to the presence of my Heavenly Father. Because I know that the Holy Ghost is real, I know that I do not have to face any challenge alone because I can always have the companionship of the Comforter, the Holy Ghost as Christ promised His apostles anciently. Because of the teachings about eternal families, I know that I can be with my loved ones again after death. Three members of my immediate family already live on the other side of the veil of death. I look forward to seeing them again. Because of Living Prophets, I know that I can have the guidance of inspiration applicable to this day and age. As I heed the counsel of the living prophet I have great peace and happiness in my life. Because of the Book of Mormon, I know that I can read the word of God and feel the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life to help me know the truth of all things. The inspired words of this book have helped me many times to find peace and answers to life questions. That is my testimony and my goal to return to be with my Heavenly Father & my Hevenly Mother. And that is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a group of elderly people who live in a local retirement center. I have learned to love and appreciate them so much! Their strong testimonies have strengthened mine. Their examples of faithfulness despite difficulty has touched my life in an impressive way. I hope I can always be as faithful and loyal to the Lord as they are. I also love to do family history research. Learning about my ancestors and their lives is very fascinating to me. It is especially rewarding to go to the Holy Temple and perform ordinances in their behalf so they can have the opportunity - if they choose - to receive the promised blessings. I love to serve whoever I can whenever I can. And I love smiling at strangers and trying to put a smile on their faces. When I listen to music I try to listen to that which has uplifting lyrics only. This helps me keep my thoughts and actions pure. Rather than watch a lot of TV, I choose to study the scriptures, write in my journal, or reach out to family and friends. I'm far from "perfect", but I try to always be improving in some way. I try to stay close to my Heavenly Father through prayer and seek His guidance in my life. I love and respect those whose religion or beliefs are not the same as mine. I share with them when they ask questions or a situation arises where I can share my feelings and testimony without being preachy or overbearing. I love the gospel and love to share it with anyone who wants to listen. It has blessed my life beyond measure, and I want it to bless their lives as well.
