Hi I'm Janet

I'm a wife, mother of 7, grandmother of 6, an Air Force veteran. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I met when we were both in the Air Force stationed in Germany. After my 4 years were up I chose to get out and be a full time Mom to our children, of which we have 7. We have met many wonderful people everywhere we have been stationed. While we liked some places better than others we found good things in each assignment. It's been fun finding new things to learn at each new home. My husband recently retired after serving 32 years on active duty and we are adjusting to this new experience of not moving. We enjoy spending time with our grandchildren but they are not close as most of them have a parent in the military. I like to read but don't seem to do as much now as I once did, I've started crocheting again after not doing it for many years, and I enjoy family history research. I volunteer one day a week in the local family history center and love it when people come in wanting help.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised one but have made my own choice to stay one. Even though I was born into an LDS family I had to receive my own witness of the truthfulness of the gospel. I was sitting in the chapel listening quietly listening to the music after the baptism of a friend when I gained my testimony that "this is the true church". In the years since I have had many affirmations of this and nothing to say otherwise. I love the gospel and the hope and strength I gain from it. Everywhere we have lived there have been church members there to welcome us, strengthen us and teach us.

How I live my faith

I have served in many areas of the church, most often and currently teaching children. I have taught all ages of children from 18 months to 12 years old, I currently teach 5 & 6 year olds. I love teaching the children and listening to them speak of their love for Jesus Christ. I worked have worked with all the cub scouts and served as a merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts. At one time I taught early morning scripture study at 0600 every day to high school aged youth. Through this experience I gained a love for the youth and their strength and willingness to follow the Savior. I also gained a greater love for the scriptures as I studied them more in depth each day than I previously had.
