Hi I'm Laura Marie

I have lived in three very different countries. I am a mother of five. I am smart and I try to be good. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been blessed to witness The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints operate in three very different countries The United States my home, Papua New Guinea, and the United Arab Emirates. Living the gospel in each of these countries has taught me that the Church is true all over the world. I have been privileged to meet some of the most wonderful people from around the world. No matter where I have been in the world, I have found wonderful, faithful people who are striving diligently to live the gospel. I am the mother of five children two boys and three girls. They have taught me so much, and hopefully I am having a positive influence on them. I love to walk and hike, read, and listen to Classical music.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon home. Both of my parents have ancestors that joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in its early years. As an adult, I choose to remain a Mormon because I know it is the true church and it has blessed my life in so many ways. I can not imagine my life without the gospel.

How I live my faith

One of the things I love about being a Mormon is the opportunity for everyone to serve in the church in many different capacities. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching everyone from 18 months old, to children, to youth, all the way up to adult age. I have also played the piano to accompany members singing hymns and children's songs. We are also given opportunities to speak in the main meeting of church which helps me with develop my testimony and my confidence. Currently, I serve in a leadership position in the women's organization at church. All of my service "callings" have helped me to grow in very personal ways. I have developed talents I never knew I had as I have been blessed to serve others and help build up the Lord's kingdom on the earth. I also try to live my faith daily by being a good example to others. I try to keep the commandments and be friendly and honest with those around me. I also try to teach my children about Jesus Christ on a daily basis. I love the personal growth that I have experienced as a result of my experiences with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Laura Marie
The Bible is the book of scripture that started Joseph Smith on the path to restoring the true church to the earth. Joseph Smith grew up in a religious home where the Bible was regularly studied. One day he read a passage in the Bible that struck him with great force. That scripture was James 15--"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given him." Joseph was unsure which church was the right one for him to join, and when he read that Bible scripture, he knew that he could ask God his question and he would receive an answer. Not long after this experience with the Bible, Joseph did kneel and pray and he received the answer that the true church was not currently on the earth. He went on to restore The Church of Jesus Christ to the earth once again--and it all began with the Bible. We believe the Bible to be the word of God and we study it regularly. It is used as a companion to all of our other scriptures. I am currently reading through the Old Testament as part of my daily scripture study, and in my Sunday School class, we are studying the New Testament this year. I love the Bible and all the things I have learned about living a Christ-like life from this wonderful book.  Show more Show less
