Hi I'm Nels

I am a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of 6 kids (5 boys and a girl) and I grew up just outside of Detroit. I am married to someone who is a far better person than me, and we have two wonderful and beautiful daughters. I currently work as an orthopaedic surgeon.

Why I am a Mormon

The teachings just make sense. As I learn about the plan that our Heavenly Father has for us, something speaks to my soul. It is a feeling that I have known all of this before and it is just right.

How I live my faith

Living the teachings of Jesus Christ is an important part of what I do every day. I feel like I need Heavenly Father's help every day so to make sure I'm in tune with him I read from the scriptures and pray daily. I also take time to read and pray with my family, this is a great way to keep peace and harmony in my home. I also know that one of the best ways I can be like Christ is in doing service to others, and living by the teachings He taught. At times in my life when work has been so busy or hectic and I've missed out on these daily things, I really notice a difference. I respond differently to problems at work, or to my kids at home. I'm just not the person I want to be. Having the perspective that my family is forever also affects this. I work much harder at being a better husband and father since I know that I want to be with them for eternity

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

They will bring a message about how Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. How his church is on the earth today with all of its teachings. They will also answer any questions you may have. Show more Show less

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

The same person who chose Moses or Noah. A prophet is called of God. This is no different today than any other time. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

I am a physician, and the greatest "thing" that tells me there is a God, is the miracle of our bodies. The way they work, act, and respond is not some fluke that happened, or an evolution. We are created in his image. No doubts about that. Show more Show less
