Hi I'm Jill

I'm a Mormon. I'm also a runner, mother, sister, lover of sleeping, a chores-putter-offer, a reader, and a lover of good food.

About Me

I am first and foremost a wife. I like that job. It's easy. I am the mother to four daughters (heaven help me when they're teenagers). I got married, had our first baby, and graduated from college...all within 18 months. I am a stay at home mom and I love my job, but I do need breaks, which is why I run. I love running. Well, I love/hate running. I basically have a complicated relationship with running. My husband works hard as an IT Consultant, although I'm not exactly sure that's what he actually does. I don't really understand it, so I just basically repeat phrases that I've heard him tell other people. He is the absolute love of my life and most of the time I wonder how I was lucky enough to snag him. I love life, even though it's usually not always full of sunshine and sparkles. I love my daughters, even when they're crazy, and I love chocolate.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family who were LDS so I've been a member my entire life. I always went to church because that was the rule in our house, but I never gained my own testimony until I reached college. I had to go through some pretty rough patches before I realized that, yes, I have a loving Father in Heaven, that I am His daughter, and that more than anything He wants me to return to him again. Just having that knowledge makes life so much easier and brings me so much happiness. Even when life gets hard, as it does for everyone, I try to remind myself that this life is not the end all. We have so much more to look forward to after we die and the things that happen to us here in this life are for our own growth. I love the church and I love the joy and happiness it has brought into my life.

How I live my faith

I have served in many different areas in the church. I have taught children from 18 months all the way up to 18 years old. I have worked, specifically, with young women ages 12-18 and this has been my favorite area to serve. I love seeing these girls grow up, right before my eyes, and make these amazing life choices that I never could at that age. I love teaching the younger children as well, seeing how much they already know about the church and to see how strong their testimonies already are. Right now I am in charge of putting together the printed program used during church service so everyone in the congregation can follow the order of service and see any other announcements they need to be made aware of. I have never cared where I serve in the church, although teaching adults does scare me. We'll see if I can avoid that one.
