Hi I'm Avram

I'm a graduate student and a Biblical scholar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate student studying Hebrew Bible at a major university. I was married to my wife, whom I met at college, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and for all eternity. I have three beautiful daughters and enjoy being a father more than anything else. I enjoy reading literature and science fiction, adventure gaming, and Scouting. At the university I study ancient languages, ancient cultures and how they interacted both in terms of politics and religion.

Why I am a Mormon

Ultimately I am a Mormon because of the love I feel from Jesus Christ. As the Bible says, "We love him, because he first loved us." The love that I know Jesus has for me is the chief motivating factor in my life. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches about Jesus and his atonement through the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and I know that as I read those books that I can gain knowledge which will help me bring my life closer to His, through the power of the Holy Ghost. I am a Mormon because I have felt the power of the Holy Spirit in my life, and it has confirmed to me the truth of the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible, and through the Holy Ghost, God has given me increased power to live according to His will.

How I live my faith

I serve as a Boy Scout Varsity Team Coach and Teachers Quorum Advisor, where I work with 14 and 15 year old boys. On Sundays we learn valuable lessons about Jesus and the religion which he taught and then during the week and on special activities like campouts we apply those lessons while exploring the world around us through the Boy Scouts of America.

In whom should we have faith?

According to the teachings of the scriptures, whether the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or the revelations received by modern prophets, faith is properly exercised in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who has power to save. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Mormons believe that God has always spoken to mankind through his prophets and apostles. The Bible represents writings and revelations from those prophets and apostles. We believe the Bible represents the message which God gave to his children in earlier days, which applies to us in our day. In the Bible we find the teachings of ancient prophets and apostles about Jesus Christ, teachings which serve to bring us closer to him and help us in our daily lives. Show more Show less
