Hi I'm Jeremy

I'm a systems engineer. I'm an amateur photographer and musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been programming computers since I was 13 years old, and I knew from that tender age exactly what I wanted to do in life. While the machines have evolved in almost every possible way, the principles of software haven't changed much in 45 years. I have played music for longer than that: piano, 'cello and accordion. And since the advent of digital media, I have developed a love of photography. My wife and I have raised 5 children, and seemed to have turned out some engineers, some artists and a nurse! With three married, we currently have two grandchildren. Our growing, multi-generational family give us enormous pleasure. I took my family to live in France for a couple or years, and most of the family speak French, and have subsequently spent time in French-speaking countries.

Why I am a Mormon

I met Mormon missionaries in London when I was student. I learnt about their beliefs, and had a series of personal spiritual experiences that helped me understand that Jesus Christ was far more than a great teacher, but that he did something truly amazing for me that makes the practice of faith, hope and love worthwhile in this life. I came to feel the love of God for me through the Holy Ghost. After many months of careful consideration, I decided also that I loved the people, their openness and amazing family values. I wanted to be part of that. And I have been ever since. I married a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and have raised my children to have the same faith in Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I try every day to attune myself to the Spirit of God by reading inspired scriptures and praying. This practice brings a spiritual awareness that helps me to look outside of myself and the small world of the computer I am invariably working at. Life in the church gives me many chances to help and serve others, and that too helps me constantly to put my own small challenges into perspective. I enjoy helping people find solutions to challenges through a combination of practical assistance and the application of faith in Jesus Christ. He makes it possible and worthwhile for us to change. Because like most men in the church I hold a priesthood office, I can be a minister to my own family, and this brings an added dimension to the responsibility of being a husband, father and grandfather.
